Well, with the popularity of solar garden lights and how easily they can be stolen... I'm thinking why not combine with another garden 'element' - fertilliser. Just a small explosion so that it scares the thieves and possibily gives them a few shrapnel wounds, depending on how tidy the garden is. Ideally, the garden should be able to protect itself.
Anyway, back to joyful times with state-space equations...
